The front of the notebook is very interesting. There is an external mic, infrared jack, a headphone jack. Also there is a switch to turn your wifi on and off. This should be a standard feature in all laptops in our opinion. This simple switch will instantly secure your wifi connection when you are not around your laptop.

The external switch for the wifi is a great feature - you can safely turn off wifi if you are not around your laptop to prevent unwanted access to your computer.

There are no usable ports on the back of the notebook. The HP DV series also comes with a high glossy finish on the outside - HP calls it the 'Imprint Radiance' finish. You will not find this in many notebooks.

With the factory delivered 6-cell battery, the unit is pretty light weight, add in the 12 cell optional battery and its still reasonably light for a daily use laptop. You should consider getting an additional 12 cell Lion battery in addition to the 6 cell that comes standard. The 12 cell battery is oddly shaped, when installed, it will protrude slightly behind the laptop and also raise the laptop by a 1/2 inch. If you forget to get the 12 cell battery when you order the laptop, don't sweat, you can still order it from HP Direct or find it on the after market.

The image quality even while playing back DVDs was good. We did not observe any jerks or dropped frames. Considering that the test laptusing the graphics processor embedded into the chipset. On second thoughts, upgrading the video card would be a good option if you are into playing video games on your laptop.

The DV6500T we tested was bought from HP Direct. It had a 160 GB (SATA) drive and 2GB memory, with reasonable graphics, a nice keyboard, this laptop should well last a few years.
